SouthSideCAN (South Side Community Action Network) is a non-profit organization dedicated to fostering community development through an Asset-Based Community Development (ABCD) approach.Our goal is to identify what the South Side community cares deeply about and to empower and support the community to create positive change in achieving these aspirations.
Turning Passion into Action
Our Community Actions Packs & Partnerships are each focused on individual aspects of improving our community. These organically formed groups hold regularly scheduled meetings where they work together to create movement & implement plans for positive change in our neighborhood & business district.

South Side Hospitality Partnership
Uniting safe, integrity-driven & responsible hospitality establishments!
This group of business owners works together with the community & public safety department’s to enhance the safety & vibrancy of the East Carson Street business district.
Safety and
Anti-Violence
Improving safety & reducing violence in the South Side Neighborhood!
As a liaison for residents, bar/business owners & property owners, this group works directly with public safety & city officials to make our neighborhood a safer destination for all.
Business Friendly Environment
Aiming to bring people to Carson Street to support our businesses!
This group organizes events that aim to support small businesses on East Carson Street & raise funds for SouthSideCAN operations.
Litter, Trash
and Beautification
Improving the visual appearance of our neighborhood!
This thriving group is a key player in well-rounded initiatives such as sit ‘n sweeps, block clean-ups, festive décor, art installations & 3D printed disposal holders. They focuses their efforts on making our community shine!

Management
Working to establish a paid staff to manage South Side’s Business District!
As one of the few neighborhoods of our size that does not currently have an official Business District Manager, this group is working toward implementing a permanent Business Improvement District with funding by local businesses & grants.
